Roses are red
Violets are blue
She’s expecting a gift
But a love note will do
Finding the perfect gift for your Valentine can be tricky. Flowers are beautiful, but their splendor wilts. Chocolates taste amazing, but their enjoyment melts. Jewelry is impressive, but doesn’t embrace your budget. What easy, affordable gift can you give on Valentine’s Day that leaves a lasting impression?
Sharing your love with written words is a meaningful gift that any Valentine will adore. Whether you write poetic love letters or simple, honest words, communicating your feelings of love and admiration for your Valentine is a gift that lasts a lifetime. Grab a notecard and let the words flow. Having trouble putting your emotions into words? Try song lyrics (Michael Buble), a romantic quote from a movie or play (Romeo and Juliet), or look to the poetic experts for inspiration (Keats). Communicate your love in this timeless way and it’s sure to make your special someone swoon.
What’s your favorite gift to give or receive on Valentine’s Day?
Happy Halloween from all your friends at Expressionery.com!
Comal River Tubing
Labor Day is fast approaching! The summer is winding down and the school year is ramping up. Thoughts of sweaters and football games are on the horizon, but the temperatures in South Texas are still in the triple digits and our Labor Day fun is all about keeping cool. Fortunately, New Braunfels is home to two rivers that are the perfect spots for fun on Labor Day.
The Comal River
The Comal River is spring fed and stays a cool 72 degrees year round, making it the ideal spot to hang out on a hot Labor Day. With areas to camp, play and barbecue along its banks, it’s THE place to be!
The Guadalupe River
The Guadalupe River also flows through New Braunfels and there are countless spots to play in around this river. Whether you prefer to relax in a tube or explore in a kayak, there’s much fun to be had on the Guadalupe.
Just up the road from the Guadalupe River, another favorite spot to spend Labor Day is in Gruene, Texas. Spend a relaxing day perusing the one-of-a-kind local shops, eating delicious food and tasting local wines. One of my favorite not-to-be-missed spots is the oldest dance hall in Texas, Gruene Hall, where you can sip on a cold drink and listen to some of the best live music in South Texas.
Not that we’re bragging, but there’s loads of fun to be had in South Texas for Labor Day. What are you doing for Labor Day this year? Comment or come see us!!
Our newest additions to the Expressionery team; Serena & Claire
Expressionery showers in early April and June have sprouted two of the cutest blooms you’ve ever seen! Our resident photographer Corina welcomed her baby Serena on April 16th and stationery designer Jen celebrated the birth of her daughter Claire on June 22nd.

With dragging feet, the Expressionery team gathered together for a bittersweet celebration – one of our team members has moved away. The leader, founder and visionary behind the Expressionery blog, Elaine, found herself a new adventure and while we were sad to see her go… we couldn’t let her leave without a proper Texan farewell.
We rustled up a Texas sized gift basket filled to the brim with Lone Star State memorabilia! From Texas shaped tortilla chips (yes, we have those here) to Bluebonnet seeds, we made sure Elaine had everything she needed to keep a bit of Texas deep in her heart.
We munched on burgers, sipped on sweet tea and enjoyed lots of jokes and laughter during her farewell luncheon, but the highlight of the event came in the form of Elaine’s last request. Our resident baker, Johanna, made Elaine a special batch of cake balls in a shade of Texas-sky blue!
It’s so easy to show appreciation for the people you encounter on a daily basis at work or at play. Take time to gather as co-workers and friends with good food, a bit of fanfare and fellowship. Our Texas style send-off, we hope, will be part of Elaine’s memory for years to come – especially when she’s enjoying the Texas shaped tortilla chips.
We wish Elaine all the best in her new endeavors!
